Sargent is a small unincorporated community located in the eastern corner of Matagorda County, Texas. The Sargent, with its proximity to the East Matagorda Bay, the Gulf of Mexico, Caney Creek and the Intracoastal Waterway is an ideal location for many commercial and sport fishermen and shrimpers. The Blue Crab, Flounder and the Spotted Sea Trout are among the favorite catches. The city is most often filled with weekend commuters from San Antonio, Austin and Houston.
