San Benito is located in Cameron County, Texas. It is part of the Brownsville–Harlingen Metropolitan Statistical Area. San Benito is a Spanish name. San Benito was at first named “Diaz” in honor of Porfirio Diaz, president of Mexico during that time. It is also known as the “Resaca City”. The Conjunto Music Museum and the Freddy Fender Museum along with the San Benito Museum are the places of attraction.
