Magnolia is located in Montgomery County, Texas. Much of this area is covered by a dense forest and as a result the lumber industry contributed a significant portion to the growth of the cities economy. Established in the late 1840s, the town has gone by several names including “Mink” and “Mink’s Prairie”. The Montgomery County Memorial Library System operates the Malcom Purvis Branch in the city.
